L'evaluation de l'aphasie chez les sujets bilingues est une necessite compte tenu de la diversite linguistique que presente la France a l'heure ou les migrations et echanges se multiplient au sein de l'Europe. N'evaluer qu'une seule langue chez ces sujets s'avere inacceptable. Aussi est-il capital de leur proposer un examen integrant leur deuxieme langue. Une telle entreprise suppose de disposer d'un outil culturellement et linguistiquement equivalent pour les idiomes explores. La conception du Screening BAT, version courte du Bilingual Aphasia Test (BAT) repond a cette exigence. Parallelement a l'appreciation du niveau de langue anterieur, le test aspire a determiner un profil general pointant les aspects preserves et les elements deficitaires des deux langues. Rapide, facile a administrer et a coter, il permet d'explorer actuellement dix langues. Afin d'analyser la validite de ce test pour sa version francaise, nous avons constitue un echantillon de trente sujets aphasiques francophones en phase chronique. Nous leur avons administre le Screening BAT en francais et les deux tests de la batterie du MT-86 (versions courte et longue). Les resultats permettent d'etablir des correlations statistiquement significatives pour l'ensemble des epreuves des trois tests. Il apparait donc que les versions abregees sont des tests valides puisqu'elles sont predictives de la version longue du MT-86. En outre, nous avons soumis deux sujets aphasiques bilingues a notre protocole. Tous deux presentent une recuperation parallele : de langue maternelle francaise, leurs performances en francais est meilleures que celles en langue etrangere.
