El doctor Pere Vilanova es llicenciat en Filosofia i Lletres i doctor en Filosofia Contemporania. Ha estat cap d’estudis de la Llicenciatura de Ciencia Politica i de l’Administracio de 1994 a 1999 i director del Departament de Dret Constitucional i Ciencia Politica de 1999 a 2003. Ha impartit classes i seminaris sobre politica i relacions internacionals a Nicaragua, Bosnia i Hercegovina, Serbia i Montenegro, Franca, el Regne Unit, Italia, Holanda, Mexic, els Estats Units, el Canada, la Xina, el Japo i altres llocs. Ha estat cap de l’Oficina Juridica de l’EUAM (European Union Administration of Mostar) i assessor del senyor Carlos Westendorp, cap de l’OHR (Office of the High Representative), a Bosnia i Hercegovina entre 1998 i 2000. Tambe ha estat assessor de l’Autoritat Nacional Palestina en materia de reformes constitucionals per encarrec de la Unio Europea entre 2003 i 2005. Ha estat membre de missions exploratories i d’observacio electoral a Bosnia i Hercegovina, Palestina, Indonesia, Asia Central i Haiti. De 2008 a agost de 2010 va ser director de la Divisio d’Assumptes Estrategics i de Seguretat (DAES) del Ministeri de Defensa. Es expert en estudis internacionals, estudis regionals, seguretat, Orient Mitja i Asia Central. Es membre de l’International Advisory Board of the Journal of Peace Research, PRIO, Oslo. Les seves opinions politiques es poden seguir en diferents mitjans de comunicacio, com El Periodico o El Pais, entre d’altres.
