Shame and Guilt as experienced by the female Vietnamese Immigrants toNorth America in the narrative of RU By: Melissa NguyenIn Kim Thuy's award winning novel, RU, the author recalls the individual experiences, strife and victories that created the collective "Boat People" narrative.Through her work in RU, we are able to commemorate the unsung heroes of the Vietnam War and recognize the struggles faced by the Vietnamese Immigrants to North America.Thuy remembers her triumphs and privileges as a Canadian with her roots in Vietnam, while honouring those less fortunate.Thuy's success, while celebrated throughout her novel, is at once the source for her shame and guilt associated with her privileged life.RÉSUMÉ L'honte et la culpabilité chez les femmes immigrantes de Vietnamien en l'Amérique du Nord dans le récit RU Par Melissa Nguyen En récompense le roman primé de Kim Thuy, RU, l'auteure rappelle de l'expérience individuelle, les luttes et les victoires qui ont créé le récit collectif des "Boat People".Grâce à son travail dans RU, nous sommes en mesure de commémorer les héros méconnus de la guerre du Vietnam et de reconnaître les luttes auxquelles les immigrants vietnamiens féminins en Amérique du nord sont confrontés.Thuy se souvient de ses triomphes et privilèges en tant que Canadien avec ses racines au Vietnam, tout en honorant les moins fortunés.Le succès de Thuy, alors qu'elle est célébrée dans son roman, est à la fois la source de sa honte et de culpabilité a cause de sa vie de privilège.
