Abstract
Los seres humanos son seres sociales y la comunicación es vital y necesaria para cada grupo cultural, lo cual puede ser el principal motivador para que muchas poblaciones en todo el mundo hayan adoptado el uso de los teléfonos móviles. La comunicación a través de dispositivos móviles tiene importantes implicaciones culturales e identitarias para los pueblos indígenas de todo el mundo, especialmente los que viven en comunidades rurales y de difícil acceso, porque debido a la globalización, algunas personas viven lejos de sus comunidades locales por el comercio, el empleo, la educación, etc. De esta manera, los teléfonos móviles son dispositivos para interrelación social y comunicación; y permite la conexión cultural y la identificación con familiares y amigos. Su características de asequibilidad, versatilidad y portabilidad crean una oportunidad para utilizar la tecnología móvil para tener un impacto positivo en la salud a través de la educación en salud, la promoción y la provisión de servicios de salud remotos, entre otros.
