La psychologie des interets de l'adulte est-elle un domaine de recherche a revisiter a la lumiere des facteurs emergeants qui affectent la perception du travail dans nos societes, tels l'esperance de vie qui s'allonge et le deficit demographique ? Sans pretendre repondre a ces questions ce texte vise a stimuler la reflexion sur la prise en compte des interets des travailleurs du 3e âge de plus en plus nombreux a travailler malgre leur avancee en âge. La conjoncture favorable au maintien en emploi des travailleurs âges encourage l'exploration des interets professionnels des gens âges. Peu d'ecrits s'interessent aux facteurs en jeu dans la carriere des travailleurs du 3e âge (M. Bettache, 2007). Nous vivons de plus en plus vieux et en meilleure sante et le Quebec manque de travailleurs. L'orientation, comme pratique, semble toute designee pour accompagner l'adulte vieillissant vers la decouverte de choix de vie globalement plus satisfaisants. Le travail n'est certes pas le seul lieu d'exploitation des interets pas plus que les inventaires d'interets ne sont le seul moyen de connaitre ses interets. Quoiqu'il en soit, un adulte qui vit mieux ses interets est plus en mesure de participer a la vie active et a la societe, d'ou la pertinence de susciter l'emergence des interets tout au long de la vie.
