Abstract
Coubertin recibio tres influencias cruciales que dieron forma a su pedagogia renovada: la Caballeria medieval, el mundo olimpico griego y el mundo anglosajon. Esos tres pilares sustentan el pensamiento y la obra pedagogico-deportiva de Coubertin. El objetivo de la Tesis Doctoral es estudiar el influjo del mundo anglosajon en la obra de Coubertin. Ademas, se analizara la faceta de pedagogo de Coubertin y, tambien, la de dirigente y organizador, hasta 1894. La metodologia es historica y se fundamenta en fuentes primarias y fuentes secundarias. La influencia del mundo anglosajon en la obra de Coubertin fue preponderante, la que prevalecio y tuvo mayor importancia. Las lecturas por parte de Coubertin de Tom Brown’s School Days (a los doce anos) y de Notes sur l’Angleterre (a los diecisiete anos); sus viajes a Inglaterra, en especial el primero en 1883, a los veinte anos, visitando Rugby (cuyo director habia sido Thomas Arnold) y otros centros educativos; y el viaje a EEUU y Canada en 1889, a los veintiseis anos, forman parte de los cimientos sobre los que se construye el pensamiento, la obra y el proyecto pedagogico de Coubertin, que hacen del deporte el instrumento capital de su politica de reforma.
