Abstract
Ces considérations économiques en Russie et en Chine illustrent le potentiel de croissance des marchés régionaux et les conséquences que cela peut avoir sur le commerce international du bois tropical. La Chine et la Russie, les deux plus grandes « économies en transition », illustrent deux approches différentes de la transition : la Russie a utilisé la méthode de la « thérapie de choc », tandis que la Chine a adopté une transition progressive plutôt que des changements radicaux. Les résultats contrastés des réformes sont évidents : de 1992 à 1997, le PIB de la Fédération de Russie a chuté de 40 %, la production industrielle a vu sa capacité réduite de moitié et la production agricole a baissé de 35 %. Dans le même temps, la Chine a enregistré une croissance moyenne de près de 10 % au cours des deux dernières décennies. Malgré de nombreuses études, le phénomène économique chinois reste une énigme pour les économistes, car il ne peut s'expliquer par les théories économiques dominantes.
