Durante 2010 un grupo de trabajo convocado por Fogafin y conformado por el Ministerio de Hacienda y Credito Publico, el Ministerio de Educacion Nacional, la Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia, el Fondo de Garantias de Entidades Cooperativas, el Autorregulador del Mercado de Valores y el Banco de la Republica, planteo la creacion de una Nacional que coordinara todos los esfuerzos individuales. Con este fin en la mira, y teniendo en cuenta las experiencias exitosas en el desarrollo y adopcion de estrategias nacionales de esta naturaleza como las de Brasil, Republica Checa, y de paises desarrollados como los Estados Unidos, Canada, el Reino Unido, Nueva Zelanda e Italia, desarrollaron el documento Estrategia nacional de educacion economica y financiera: una propuesta para su implantacion en como un primer paso en esta via. Este documento plantea los lineamientos para la conformacion de una estrategia nacional de EEF para Colombia con base en el marco legal existente asi como las actividades necesarias para llevarla a cabo, ademas de la estructura y constitucion legal idonea para el desarrollo de la misma.
