Abstract
Prenant appui sur des pratiques de formation et de recherche en contexte universitaire, cet article constitue une sorte d’invitation à relier l’induction et la critique dans ces deux champs de pratique. La première partie du texte est centrée sur la formation alors que la deuxième est centrée sur la recherche. Chaque partie possède une structure similaire. Elle débute de manière inductive avec un exemple de pratique avant de se tourner vers des considérations plus théoriques. Inspirée notamment parL’imagination sociologiquede Charles Wright Mills originalement publié en 1959, la thèse développée ici est celle d’une grande actualité des propos de Mills qui insistait pour articuler biographie, histoire et société en résistant à la « suprême théorie » et à « l’empiricité libérale ». Le contexte actuel de la vie universitaire invite à actualiser de tels regards tant sur les pratiques de formation que sur les pratiques de recherche.
