«Retourne en Arabie!» : expériences de l’islamophobie et de l’altérisation au quotidien : une étude de cas sur des jeunes Québécoises musulmanes

Abstract
Ce mémoire vise à comprendre l’expérience de l’islamophobie et de l’altérisation dans le quotidien des jeunes Québécoises musulmanes issues de l’immigration et ayant grandi au Québec. De l’école primaire au milieu du travail, des insultes dans la rue aux regards de méfiance dans le métro, l’expérience de l’islamophobie prend plusieurs déclinaisons et se déploie dans différents contextes. À travers le concept de everyday racism (racisme quotidien) théorisé par Philomena Essed (1991) et suivant sa méthodologie détaillée, j’ai cherché à comprendre l’étendue de l’expérience de l’islamophobie et de l’altérisation vécue par des Québécoises musulmanes. J’ai mené sept entrevues semi dirigés sur le mode du récit de vie avec des jeunes femmes âgées entre 23 et 32 ans ayant grandi au Québec et poursuivant des études universitaires (ou récemment graduées). Six d’entre elles portent le foulard (hijab).
