Abstract
In qusto articolo sono raccolte alcune fonti d'archivio ‒ atti notarili e registri ecclesiastici patrimoniali e contabili ‒ relative alla presenza ebraica a Barletta nei secoli XV-XVI. Dallo spoglio della documentazione, emergono numerosi nomi e utili indicazioni per la localizzazione della Giudecca e della sinagoga locale. Nella breve introduzione è ricordata la funzione strategica di Barletta nel commercio sia marittimo che di terra e, in particolar modo, in occasione delle fiere, alle quali anche gli ebrei erano chiamati a partecipare; sono inoltre sottolineate le azioni di tutela garantite dall'amministrazione centrale nei confronti della locale popolazione ebraica. New documents on the Jews in Barletta In this paper some archival sources ‒ notarial acts and ecclesiastical patrimonial and accounting books ‒ are collected, relating to the Jewish presence in the city of Barletta in 15th and 16th centuries. Many names of Jews in Barletta in that period emerge, as well as useful indications on the location of the Judeca quarter and the local synagogue. The introduction underlines the strategic function of Barletta both in sea and land trade, especially during regular trade fairs, also mentioning the privileges granted by the central government to protect the pecuniary interests of the Jews living there.
