Tous les chercheurs dont les travaux font appel à des sujets humains doivent désormais soumettre leurs projets à des comités d'éthique qui en font l'évaluation et sont chargés d'en suivre l'évolution.Cet ouvrage s'adresse avant tout à ces chercheurs en leur présentant les principales règles auxquelles ils doivent se soumettre, en leur indiquant les éléments dont il faut tenir compte dans la rédaction d'un protocole de recherche et en les sensibilisant aux raisons de ces exigences. Après avoir passé en revue les grands documents éthiques publiés depuis le Code de Nuremberg (1947) jusqu'aux plus récents textes régulateurs canadiens et internationaux, l'auteur traite de certains champs de recherche (épidémiologie, génétique, recherche clinique interventionniste) qui posent des questions éthiques particulières.
