Le 9 février 2015, nous avons eu le plaisir de nous entretenir avec Maurice Laparra, dirigeant de Pechiney à la retraite et président de l’Institut pour l’histoire de l’aluminium international de France 1 . Ce dialogue avec un dirigeant retraité de Pechiney s’inscrit dans un volet du projet de recherche Fralubec portant sur une étude comparative entre l’évolution au xxe siècle des cultures organisationnelles dans les installations de la multinationale Alcan au Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean et celles ayant marqué l’évolution des installations de Pechiney dans la Vallée de la Maurienne. Pour réaliser notre étude comparative, un de nos objectifs était d’aller à la rencontre d’acteurs-clés qui ont fait carrière dans la gestion d’usines et de projets dans ces deux multinationales. Par la méthode du récit autobiographique 2 , nous voulions recueillir les réflexions sur leur pratique professionnelle ayant marqué des « façons de faire originales Alcan et Pechiney » couvrant la période 1960 et 2007 pour Alcan jusqu’à son absorption par Rio Tinto et 1960 à 2004 pour Pechiney jusqu’à son acquisition par Alcan. Au terme de notre projet de coopération France-Québec, nous avons atteint partiellement cet objectif en recueillant seulement les récits autobiographiques de dirigeants patronaux et syndicaux de la multinationale Alcan. Maurice Laparra est le seul dirigeant de Pechiney que nous avons interviewé.
