Pada remaja, kelompok sebaya dan pertemanan menjadi penting sehingga tidak jarang perilaku yang ditunjukkan dipengaruhi kelompok sebayanya. Ternyata, tidak semua remaja terpengaruh oleh kelompok sebaya, yang disebut dengan resistensi. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui tingkat resistensi remaja akhir serta hubungan pertemanan yang dijalin dalam studi deskriptif kepada 113 siswa (15-17 tahun) di dua SMA swasta berakreditasi A di Surabaya. Pengukuran dilakukan dengan kuesioner yang mengacu pada Resistance to Peer Influence Scale (Steinberg & Monahan, 2007) dan McGill Friendship Questionnaire- Friendship Functions (Mendelson & Aboud, 1999) yang membedakan fungsi pertemanan menjadi kesenangan (stimulating companionship), pemberian petunjuk (help), kedekatan dengan teman (intimacy), loyalitas (reliable alliance), self-validation, dan kenyamanan di saat senang maupun terancam (emotional security). Sebanyak 87 partisipan (77%) memiliki resistensi tinggi dan sangat tinggi sedangkan hasil fungsi pertemanan tidak didapati selisih yang signifikan pada setiap tipenya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan remaja akhir memiliki resistensi tinggi terhadap kelompok sebayanya, telah memiliki prinsip, terutama pada perilaku yang berorientasi pada diri sendiri. Teman sebaya masih diperlukan untuk memberikan kesenangan pada diri serta mendapatkan perhatian dan afeksi. Remaja menganggap teman sebagai seseorang yang menyenangkan untuk duduk dan berbicara bersama, memberikan bantuan saat membutuhkan, seseorang yang mudah diajak berbicara mengenai hal-hal pribadi, dan tetap mau menjadi teman walaupun berargumen.
