Abstract
Elder Mediation ist eine Mediationsform zur Konfliktlösung und -prävention im Zusammenhang mit Fragen des dritten Lebensabschnitts für Seniorinnen und ihnen nahestehende Menschen. Kanada ist Pionierland. Elder Mediation Canada (EMC) hat von 1999 – 2009 Falldaten erhoben. Die Daten wurden 2010/2011 durch e&e evaluiert. Analysiert und überprüft wurde, ob und inwiefern sich von „Elder Mediators“ beobachtete positive Veränderungen auf Pflegesituation, Kommunikation im Familien- und Sozialsystem der Senioren und deren Unterstützungsnetz sich datenbasiert erhärten und auf die Mediation zurückführen lassen. Die Evaluationsresultate bestätigen die Beobachtungen: Sie zeigen, dass sich nach der Elder Mediation das generelle Pflegeniveau im Sample um 77% erhöht hat, in 70% der Fälle die Kommunikation vertieft und das Unterstützungsnetz ausgeweitet und die individuellen Mediationsziele in 75% der Fälle erreicht wurden. Die Familien würden Elder Mediation erneut in Anspruch nehmen und weiterempfehlen. Die erreichten Verbesserungen wurden von den Teilnehmenden maßgeblich auf die Elder Mediation zurückgeführt.
