Abstract
Tussen de Nederlandse glastuinbouwsector en overheid is een doel voor de CO2-emissie in 2020 afgesproken van 6,2 Mton. Voor de periode tot en met 2024 is in het Convenant CO2-sectorsysteem 2021-2024 een jaarlijkse reductie van 0,2 Mton vastgelegd. In 2021 steeg de CO2-emissie van de glastuinbouw naar 6,5 Mton en lag hiermee boven het afgesproken doel van 6,0 Mton. In 2021 steeg de CO2-emissie vooral door een hoger aardgasverbruik als gevolg van een lagere buitentemperatuur ten opzichte van 2020, een toename van het areaal, maar ook doordat er meer elektriciteit verkocht werd en de inkoop van elektriciteit afnam. De groei van de inzet van duurzame energie en de toename van de inkoop van niet-duurzame warmte compenseerden een deel van deze stijging. De energie-efficiëntie is met 4% verbeterd. Het aandeel duurzame energie groeide naar bijna 12%. Het aandeel van energievoorzieningen zonder CO2-emissie voor de glastuinbouw (duurzame energie, inkoop warmte en inkoop elektriciteit) kwam in 2021 op 22%, bijna een verdubbeling sinds 2010.
