Ce mémoire reprend les avantages sur le plan environnemental et socio-économique d’une forêt plantée grâce au financement de l’Union Européenne sur le Plateau des Batéké.Ce projet dont l’objectif principal était d’approvisionner la ville de Kinshasa en combustibles ligneux de bonne qualité a eu des incidences positives sur l’environnement et sur la vie socio-économique des villageois et citadins.Sur le plan environnemental, la forêt artificielle ainsi réalisée par plantation, principalement à base de Acacia auriculiformis et de quelques Eucalyptus sp.p. a influé positivement le microclimat de la région. Elle a permis aussi d’enrichir le milieu sur le plan de la biodiversité, en permettant le développement de nombreuses espèces végétales d’ombrage et en constituant un refuge pour certaines espèces animales. La structure des sols a également été enrichie grâce à l’apport de matière organique et d’azote fixé par la légumineuse plantée.Sur le plan socio-économique, l’accent est mis sur l’implantation des infrastructures indispensables au développement socio-économique de cette région (route d’accès, village, etc..) et sur la sédentarisation de l’agriculture et des villages.
