Jacques Rancière Outubro 2010 -N° 15 Há palavras das quais temos dificuldades em nos desvencilhar.É o caso de "teatro popular".Há cinquenta e cinco anos Roland Barthes esclareceu, por ocasião do Festival de Avignon, os três elementos desse "teatro da cidade", amealhados para substituir o "teatro do dinheiro": público de massa, repertório de alta cultura, dramaturgia de vanguarda.O esquema, à primeira vista, era simples: um destinatário, alguma coisa para transmitir-lhe e os meios dessa transmissão.A equação foi encarnada, naquela época, pelo TNP de Jean Vilar, que ofereceu em cena aberta Corneille, Molière ou Kleist ao público dos comitês de empresas, substituindo os claustrofóbicos cenários do teatro burguês pela luz ativa dos projetores de Appia cenógrafo e diretor suíço, 1862-1928, considerado o pioneiro do teatro moderno e da iluminação da cena -iluminando o grande drama da história.Restava, naturalmente, uma condição: para um público de massa, era necessário entradas baratas e uma série de descontos, de onde, os subsídios estatais. ResumoO artigo enfoca as contradições do teatro popular, questionando a manutenção de seus três eixos de sustentação: o barateamento dos ingressos, o repertório de alta cultura e a dramaturgia de vanguarda.
