Abstract
This paper shares preliminary findings from a doctoral thesis which highlight the tensions and challenges of trying to do Indigenizing pedagogy within an academic institution where the institutional structures and its students are entangled in settler colonial logic. The pedagogy at the heart of this research is in a particular course, in a B.Ed. program. Due to increasing calls for the K-12 curriculum to include the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous peoples and the Canadian government. Curriculum is being updated as ministries of education respond to this call. Elementary and secondary school teachers are reporting that they do not feel adequately prepared to teach this new content. Many B.Ed. programs are thus starting to introduce mandatory course on topics such as the historic and contemporary treatment of Indigenous peoples; settler colonialism; Indigenous resiliency and resistance; and power and privilege in an effort to education the preservice teachers about the relationship and struggles that are reflected in the new curriculum. This research focuses on the experiences of a group of instructors (faculty and graduate students) at one institution who are trying to teach one such mandatory course.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
