1. Le sens des comités d’éthique de la recherche :• naissance aux États-Unis vers le milieu des années 1960 et. dix ans plus tard, au Canada ;• protéger les sujets de recherche et veiller au respect des valeurs de la communauté ;• la composition est un enjeu majeur en raison de son objectif.2. Le fonctionnement d’un comité d’éthique :• dans la plupart des pays, la composition comprend une représentation variée ;• les tâches du comité : évaluer, approuver et surveiller toute recherche qui fait appel à des sujets humains ;• deux méthodes d'évaluation peuvent être utilisées : évaluation complète ou accélérée ;• diverses mesures de surveillance sont possibles ;• l’évaluation multicentre constitue une difficulté de taille pour plusieurs comités.
