de Montral l'exception des organisations strictement nationalistes, le mouvement syndical est certainement l'organisation sociale qui a donn l'appui le plus significatif la souverainet du Qubec. Fort de prs d'un million de syndiqus en 1985 avec des ressources matrielles et humaines importantes et des structures d'intervention publique travers toute la province, les principales centrales syndicales ont contribu normment faire prendre conscience de l'option souverainiste parmi leurs membres et la population en gnral. Pour qui connat tant soit peu le syndicalisme, il tait invitable qu'elles prennent position sur la souverainet politique du Qubec comme elles le font sur tous les grands enjeux sociaux et politiques du Qubec depuis le dbut du XX e sicle. Elles articulent un projet global de socit depuis longtemps, qui les amne se prononcer sur un trs vaste ventail d'aspects de la vie en socit.
