Antecedentes: Las lectinas actan como unidades de reconocimiento para facilitar la eliminacin de patgenos invasivos en plantas y animales, participan en mecanismos de defensa y actan como mediadores de reconocimiento en la respuesta inmune de invertebrados.Existen pocos estudios dirigidos a evaluar el efecto de inmunoestimulantes sobre la activacin de lectinas en crustceos.Objetivos: Evaluar la concentracin de lectina en juveniles de camarn blanco tratados con inmunoestimulantes de origen microbiano y comercial.Mtodos: Se utilizaron cinco tratamientos agregados directamente al agua de cultivo cada tercer da durante 12 das: 1) laminarina (0.5 mg ml -1 ); 2) mezcla 1 (Bacillus tequilensis y B. licheniformis; 2 x 10 6 UFC ml -1 , proporcin 1:1); 3) mezcla 2 (B.endophyticus, cepa YC3-B y cepa C2-2; 2 x 10 6 UFC ml -1 , proporcin 1:1); 4) Debaryomyces hansenii (1 x 10 6 UFC ml -1 ); 5) control (sin inmunoestimulantes).Despus de los 12 das de tratamiento se tomaron muestras de hemolinfa a las 24, 48 y 72 h para la cuantificacin de lectina en plasma, para ello se utilizaron anticuerpos monoclonales contra la lectina de Macrobrachium rosenbergii (MrL).Resultados: A las 24 h posteriores a la ltima aplicacin del tratamiento, se registraron diferencias significativas (p < 0.05) en la concentracin de lectina en el plasma de L. vannamei de los camarones expuestos al inmunoestimulante comercial laminarina respecto al grupo control, seguida por la mezcla 1 y la mezcla 2 a las 72 horas despus de la aplicacin de los tratamientos.A las 48 h no hubo diferencias significativas (p > 0.05) entre los tratamientos y el grupo control.No se encontraron diferencias significativas en los camarones expuestos a la cepa de D. hansenii respecto al grupo control.Conclusiones: Se observ que la concentracin de lectina en el plasma de camarn blanco puede incrementarse por el uso de inmunoestimulantes y utilizarse como herramienta bioindicadora de inmunoestimulacin.
