Abstract
La plupart des principales banques d’information sont offertes, de nos jours, par plus d’un distributeur commercial. La sélection d’un système donné repose sur certains critères de comparaison parmi lesquels il faut favoriser la cohérence d’une banque (file consistency) et les stratégies d’interrogation des systèmes qui affectent directement les résultats d’une recherche bibliographique et, conséquemment, la qualité du service à offrir à un chercheur. Afin de vérifier ces deux aspects, une recherche bibliographique est menée à l’intérieur de la banque Psychological Abstracts par l’entremise de trois systèmes de repérage de l’information en mode direct : DIALOG/LIS, STAIRS/BRS et ORBIT/SDC. Cette recherche s’établit selon deux approches particulières : une première investigation à l’intérieur de la catégorie « descripteur » uniquement, puis une seconde à l’intérieur des différentes catégories de type « sujet » de l’index principal de la banque Psychological Abstracts .
