Quand vient le temps de determiner des finalites d'un systeme d'education, inevitablement, les decideurs sont confrontes a des choix lies au contenu d'apprentissages, aux activites d'enseignement, mais fondamentalement, la question des valeurs s'impose. Dans une optique de projet de societe, forcement, le type de projet propose aux enfants et aux jeunes aura un impact sur la facon dont ils entreront en relation les uns avec les autres. Daniel Innerarity (2001) propose l'idee d'une ethique de l'hospitalite qui consiste, entre autres, en « l'apprentissage du commerce productif avec l'alterite, la capacite de se tenir a portee de la realite, de facon qu'elle puisse, comme un visiteur autonome, contredire notre propre savoir et depasser notre propre vouloir » (p. 5). A travers un debat croise sur les positions philosophiques de Charles Taylor, Kant, Derrida et Daniel Innerarity, mais aussi des positions educatives de Jean-Jacques Rousseau, John Dewey et Matthew Lipman, notre projet de recherche cherchera a situer le sens philosophique de l’hospitalite comme un enjeu fondamental de la tolerance et de la reconnaissance, caracteristiques essentielles de l'education au vivre ensemble dans un contexte francophone en milieu minoritaire.
