Abstract

Cet article vise à comprendre les réponses organisationnelles et syndicales en matière d’accommodement en milieu de travail, en s’attardant à la fois aux contraintes légales, aux pratiques organisationnelles et aux perceptions des acteurs concernés. La démarche méthodologique empruntée est qualitative. La combinaison des outils de collecte que sont l’entretien semi-directif, l’observation de situations et l’analyse de documents a été privilégiée, permettant de poser un regard croisé sur le vécu des employeurs, des délégués syndicaux et des employés en matière d’accommodements. Les résultats font ressortir un fossé entre ce que prévoit l’obligation d’accommodement et les réponses organisationnelles et syndicales en cette matière. D’une part, la méconnaissance des acteurs relative à l’obligation d’accommodement pave la voie à des réponses organisationnelles et syndicales basées sur des perceptions empreintes de préjugés. D’autre part, la nature individualisée des arrangements propre à l’obligation d’accommodement n’incite pas les acteurs à une gestion proactive de la diversité.
