Abstract
En este artículo se editan por primera vez los fragmentos de una inscripción opistógrafa monumental hallada en las excavaciones del ángulo N-O del foro del municipium de Valeria (conventus Carthaginiensis, Hispania Citerior). Aunque fragmentaria, la elegante placa de mármol veteado documenta en ambas caras unos actos de evergetismo ejecutados por sendas parejas de la élite local en época julio-claudia avanzada. Es la primera placa de mármol hallada en el municipium de Valeria y, por consiguiente, debió haber impactado con fuerza en el ambiente epigráfico en el que estaba expuesta. A pesar de su estado fragmentario, el texto que se conserva más íntegro (titulus 1) atestigua que el marido fue un oficial del ejército romano que, entre otros cargos, ocupó alguno dentro de la Legio III antes de volver a Valeria para iniciar una carrera política local. Al mismo tiempo, menciona también la recepción formal de su esposa dentro del cuerpo de ciudadanos de Valeria (in numerum civium recepta), un privilegio cívico muy raramente documentado en el Occidente romano. El artículo trata también sobre la función y ubicación de la placa para lo que se tiene en cuenta si fue vista a la vez por sus dos lados o si fue reutilizada en un segundo momento para el texto más corto (titulus 2). Además se presentan y discuten varias hipótesis sobre el contexto físico donde pudo estar colocada la placa en época romana.
