Bundan önce yayımladığımız 'İslam Düşüncesi Hakkında Türkiye'de Yapılan Tezler' başlıklı makalemizde akademik tezler esas alınarak 'bizim bize' bakışımız sergilenmeye çalışılmıştı.Daha sonra yayımladığımız 'Batı Felsefesiyle İlgili Türkiye'de Yapılan Tezler' başlığını taşıyan çalışmamızda ise Türk akademisyenlerinin Batı düşüncesini anlayış, kavrayış ve değerlendirmeleri ortaya konulmaya çalışılmış ve konuyla ilgili tezlerin bibliyografik künyeleri verilmişti. 1 Biribirini tamamlayan bu iki makaleden sonra Batılı araştırmacıların düşünce tarihimizi nasıl yorumladıklarının da ortaya konulması gerekiyordu.İşte elinizdeki bu makale, İslam düşüncesine dışardan bakan veya çoğunlukla İslam ülkelerinin dışındaki akademik kurumlarda yapılan İngilizce yüksek lisans ve doktora tezlerinin dökümünü ihtiva etmektedir.Diğer bir ifadeyle, başta Türkiye olmak üzere İslam ülkelerindeki üniversitelerde İngilizce yazılan ve bu yüzden bu çalışmaya giren tezler ile İslam dünyasından giden öğrencilerin Batı üniversitelerinde yaptıkları tezler istisna edilirse, bu makalede künyesi verilen tezler büyük çoğunluğu itibariyle İslam düşüncesi hakkında oryantalistler tarafından hazırlanan İngilizce tezlerden meydana gelmektedir.Oryantalistlerin hazırladıkları İslam düşüncesiyle ilgili tezler ve öteki araştırmalar, sadece bu çalışmaları yapan kişiler ya da İslam dünyasının dı
