Abstract
Pendant la période de l’entre-deux-guerres, le critique Louis Dantin a joué le rôle de mentor pour plusieurs écrivains canadiens-français appartenant à la jeune génération (appelée les Individualistes de 1925). De ce nombre se trouve l’auteur franco-américain Rosaire Dion-Lévesque (pseudonyme de Léo Lévesque, 1900–1974), qui, de Nashua (New Hampshire), a pris part à la vie littéraire canadienne du temps. De 1928 à 1944, Dantin et Dion ont échangé plus de 230 lettres, une correspondance qui révèle les différentes phases de formation du poète ainsi que l’amitié que se portent mutuellement les épistoliers. Comment s’est déployée la relation mentorale dans la correspondance et quel est l’impact du contexte géographique et culturel américain sur le mentorat? Cette analyse conduira à aborder la question des transferts sous deux angles complémentaires: le transfert de savoir au sein du mentorat et les transferts culturels entre le Canada et les États-Unis.
