Abstract
With the recent deaths of Herbert Baker, Lincoln Constance and Robert Ornduff, a distinguished era in plant systematics and evolution has come to an end at the University of California, Berkeley. Each made important contributions to our knowledge of plant diversity and in their own distinctive ways influenced a generation of graduate students trained at Berkeley.
