Abstract
Cet article analyse les figurations et les enjeux de l’éco-épiphanie (soit l’épisode épiphanique déclenché par un ou plusieurs éléments de la nature) dans trois romans québécois contemporains :Betsi Larousse ou l’ineffable eccéité de la loutrede Louis Hamelin,Champagnede Monique Proulx etL’Écrivain publicde Pierre Yergeau. L’objectif est de montrer que ces soudaines manifestations, bien que brèves, provoquent d’importants glissements au sein du récit. Elles ébranlent premièrement les assises du sujet romanesque en faisant de lui non plus un être agissant, mais une entitépatientede l’action. Ces intenses révélations secouent, dans un deuxième temps, la logique temporelle du récit, et ce, par la prédisposition de l’éco-épiphanie à favoriser lekairos(le momentané) au détriment duchronos(la continuité).
