Síntese e caracterização de complexos polipiridínicos de Ru(II) com diferentes ligantes carboxilatos e avaliação da reatividade frente ao oxigênio molecular

Este trabalho avaliou a influncia dos ligantes carboxilatos nas propriedades espectrais de complexos bis-heterolpticos de Ru(II) e na reatividade desses frente ao oxignio molecular. Para tanto, foram realizadas snteses dos complexos [Ru(bpy) 2 (pirc)] + , [Ru(bpy) 2 (acpy)] + e [Ru(bpy) 2 (qui)] + , onde bpy = 2,2'-bipiridina, pirc = 2-piridilcarboxilato, acpy = 2-piridilacetato e qui = 2-quinolilcarboxilato. Os espectros de absoro dos complexos foram obtidos em soluo e so caracterizados por bandas largas na regio do visvel atribudas a transies MLCT dRu *bpy , com alguma influncia dos ligantes carboxilatos, o que foi reforado pelos clculos TD-DFT. Os voltamogramas cclicos dos complexos [Ru(bpy) 2 (pirc)] + e [Ru(bpy) 2 (qui)] + em acetonitrila apresentam processos reversveis com E 1/2 relativos ao par Ru(II/III) iguais a +0,88 V e +0,90 V vs Ag/AgCl, respectivamente. J o voltamograma cclico do complexo [Ru(bpy) 2 (acpy)] + em CH 2 Cl 2 apresentou dois picos com E 1/2 = +0,55 V e +0,92 V vs Ag/AgCl, atribudos aos pares Ru(II/III) e Ru(III/IV), respectivamente. Alm disso, um terceiro pico andico em 1,18 V vs Ag/AgCl foi observado e relacionado oxidao do ligante acpy. O complexo [Ru(bpy) 2 (acpy)]PF 6 quando exposto atmosfera ambiente e/ou em soluo aerada reage com O 2 dando origem ao complexo indito [Ru(bpy) 2 (acpyoxi)]PF 6 , cuja a estrutura foi confirmada por difrao de raios X e tcnicas espectroscpicas. As propriedades espectrais e eletroqumicas deste composto, bem como a reatividade do complexo [Ru(bpy) 2 (acpy)]PF 6 frente ao O 2 foram estudadas com o intuito de propor um mecanismo de oxidao do ligante acpy coordenado ao Ru(II). A partir de estudos cinticos da reao de oxidao por UV-Vis e RMN 1 H, dados termodinmicos obtidos por DFT e identificao de intermedirios por espectrometria de massas, foi possvel concluir que o acrscimo de um tomo de oxignio ao carbono no ligante acpy ocorre por trs etapas principais: ataque nucleoflico do O 2 molecular ao centro Ru(II) para formao de espcies Ru(IV)=O; ativao da ligao C-H para gerar um intermedirio -hidroxi-carboxilato relativamente estvel, sendo esta ltima a etapa limitante. Sugere-se que um novo ataque pelo O 2 molecular ao centro Ru(II) no intermedirio seguido de um rearranjo intermolecular para oxidao do C e liberao de H 2 O gere o produto final.
