Abstract
RESUMOEste trabalho debruça-se sobre a caracterização de regimes na precipitação e a melhor compreensão da variabilidade neste processo. Esta caracterização tem sido afetada por limitações com origem nos dados de precipitação analisados (e.g. resolução e cobertura temporal e espacial dos dados) e nas abordagens metodológicas adotadas, e por incertezas relacionadas com os efeitos prováveis de alterações climáticas neste processo. Obviando algumas destas problemáticas, os principais contributos deste trabalho assentam na seguinte abordagem, em que se: (i) usa três produtos de precipitação que permitem estudar desde escalas mensais a escalas centenárias e escalas espaciais que se estendem até à escala planetária; (ii) estuda a precipitação sobre os continentes, sobre os oceanos e à escala global; (iii) investiga a estatística da precipitação no macrotempo, um regime intermédio entre os regimes tempo e clima; (iv) usa análise espectral e flutuações Haar para identificar regimes na precipitação e caracterizar a estatística (escalante) temporal, espacial e espácio-temporal da precipitação. Dos resultados obtidos destaca-se a identificação do carácter distinto, escalante, de vários regimes na precipitação e de efeitos, presumivelmente de origem antrópica, observados na variabilidade da precipitação, nas baixas frequências.
