Les chroniques de langage québécoises, bien que très nombreuses dans le paysage médiatique québécois, ont fait l'objet de peu d'études à ce jour. Dans le cadre de ce mémoire, nous avions comme objectif général de contribuer à une meilleure connaissance du contenu de la chronique de langage. Pour ce faire, nous nous sommes intéressée au discours épilinguistique de la chronique"Corrigeons-nous" de la Société du parler français au Canada, chronique parue entre 1930 et 1945 dans plusieurs journaux canadiens de langue française. En nous référant aux travaux sur la description de J.-M. Adam (1990, 1993, 2002), nous avons procédé au découpage en segments de la chronique, de façon à mettre en lumière les différents types d'information qu'elle pouvait véhiculer. Ce découpage nous a permis d'isoler les segments descriptifs, qui ont fait l'objet d'une analyse de discours plus approfondie. L'objectif correctif avoué de cette chronique, joint à la forme lexicographique adoptée, nous conduit à voir, dans chacun des articles consacré à un emploi, une visée argumentative du type Ne dites pas ..., mais dites .... Un grand nombre d'articles ne possédant pas de conclusion explicite de ce type, nous croyons que les segments descriptifs possèdent une valeur argumentative permettant l'inférence d'une conclusion stipulatoire. Nous avons mesuré la valeur argumentative des différents types de segments descriptifs d'après le rôle qu'ils jouent dans le schéma argumentatif. Nous avons ensuite associé un lieu commun à chacun des types de segments descriptifs, cette association rendant alors implicite la conclusion stipulatoire. L'étude que nous proposons éclaire la structure argumentative qu'exploite la Société du parler français au Canada, structure principalement basée sur la stipulation implicite à partir de segments descriptifs fortement connotés.
