Dans les programmes pour l’enseignement primaire et secondaire au Québec, les expériences culturelles sont valorisées pour permettre le développement de compétences dans le domaine des langues. Les relations directes avec artistes et les écrivains sont identifiées comme des moyens à privilégier pour ouvrir l’élève à la culture et à s’engager dans des démarches créatives. Pour atteindre cet objectif, différents programmes de soutien ont été mis en place. Mais qu’en est-il dans les milieux scolaires ? Qui sont les enseignants qui offrent à leurs élèves de tels espaces de rencontre, dans quel contexte et à quelles fins ? Quel est aussi l’effet de telles rencontres sur les élèves et plus particulièrement sur leur rapport à l’écrit ? L’article lève un coin du voile en présentant les résultats d’une enquête réalisée auprès d’un large échantillon d’enseignants et de mini-entrevues effectuées avec des élèves du dernier cycle du primaire et du secondaire.
