Abstract
Fidèle à la rupture épistémologique initiale entre sociologie et anthropologie, c’est traditionnellement cette dernière qui a étudié les Autochtones, alors que l’éducation autochtone est encore surtout abordée dans une perspective interdisciplinaire. Il devient par conséquent plus difficile d’y distinguer spécifiquement l’apport de la sociologie. Nous proposons d’abord un survol de la production scientifique en éducation autochtone au Québec des années 1960 aux années 1990, pour ensuite poursuivre avec celle des années 2000 et 2010, là où l’on observe davantage de publications en sociologie. Nous poursuivrons par une réflexion sur les thèmes étudiés en éducation autochtone et l’apport de la sociologie dans les études autochtones, dans un contexte où deux paradigmes se démarquent (Martin, 2009) : l’approche du passage de la tradition à la modernité et l’approche (post)coloniale. Nous conclurons avec une réflexion sur le dépassement de la perspective déficitaire en éducation autochtone et les changements occasionnés par la recherche collaborative en sociologie.
