L’augment clitique le dans le français du Poitou à la fin du XVI e et au début du XVII e siècle : un effet du substrat ?

Abstract
Cette étude porte sur le développement d’un augment proclitique le observé dans le français poitevin au tournant du xvi e au xvii e siècle, qui s’apparente au redoublement des pronoms à la source de la gémination du proclitique objet élidé l’ de certaines variétés modernes du français. Après avoir rappelé en introduction les hypothèses en présence pour expliquer l’origine de cette gémination, je présente dans une première section quelques cas classiques de redoublement d’éléments grammaticaux dans les dialectes septentrionaux de la Gallo-Romania. Je présente ensuite un certain nombre de faits qui militent en faveur de l’hypothèse selon laquelle l’augment clitique le devant proclitiques objets que l’on observe dans le français régional du Poitou des xvi e et xvii e siècles (il le l’a épousée) et dans les parlers saintongeais des xviii e et xix e siècles ( i le lés allumit « il les alluma ») est de tout autre nature.
