L'étude présentée dans cet article avait pour objectif d'examiner le lien entre les éléments langagiers se retrouvant dans les réflexions métalinguistiques d'apprenants francophones de l'anglais langue seconde (L2) et les éléments grammaticaux dans leurs productions écrites. Des chercheurs tels qu'Armand (2000), Roulet (1995) et Swain (1995), pour ne nommer qu'eux, soutiennent que la réflexion métalinguistique, lorsqu'elle se produit en classe de langue favorise de développement langagier. Certains ont vérifié empiriquement le lien existant, d'une part, entre la réflexion métalinguistique et l'acquisition des L2 (p.ex., Renou, 2001; Simard, French, & Fortier, 2007) et, d'autre part, entre la réflexion métalinguistique et la production orale (p. ex., Griggs, 1997; Huot, 2000). Cependant, aucune n'a examiné le lien entre ce sur quoi portent les réflexions métalinguistiques des apprenants de L2 et les aspects langagiers qu'ils utilisent dans leurs productions écrites. C'est précisément ce que nous avons tenté de faire dans la présente étude. Vingt-sept élèves de sixième année primaire (n =27; Mage=11.4) provenant d'une classe intacte d'anglais L2 ayant reçu approximativement 350 heures d'enseignement de type communicatif ont participé à l'étude. La réflexion métalinguistique a été opérationnalisée au moyen des verbalisations à propos de la L2 dans un journal de bord qui a été complété sur une période de trois mois. Les productions écrites ont été colligées lors d'un prétest et d'un posttest immédiat au moyen d'une tâche de narration avec images. Les résultats des analyses ne révèlent qu'un lien partiel entre les éléments grammaticaux mentionnés dans les réflexions métalinguistiques et ceux se trouvant dans les productions écrites des participants.
