Abstract
O artigo descreve os procedimentos metodologicos utilizados na adaptacao e validacao de instrumentos psicologicos, e exemplifica com resultados de pesquisas. Foram abordadas as metodologias que preconizam: a avaliacao de seis equivalencias - conceitual, de itens, semântica, operacional, de mensuracao e funcional; apontam os cinco passos para a adaptacao: (1) traducao para o idioma alvo, (2) sintese de versoes traduzidas, (3) avaliacao da versao sintese por especialistas, (4) avaliacao da versao sintese pelo publico-alvo e (5) estudo-piloto; e ainda as tres etapas fundamentais para a validacao: mensuracao da validade convergente, analise fatorial e analise da fidedignidade por meio do coeficiente Alfa de Cronbach. Esse complexo processo e apresentado nas metodologias de quatro estudos de adaptacao e validacao dos instrumentos no Brasil, Portugal, Estados Unidos e Canada com idiomas similares e distintas. As discussoes articuladas contribuirao para a capacitacao de estudantes, pesquisadores e profissionais da saude.
