Abstract
O que nos faz decidir acreditar numa decisão? Para lá do procedimento técnico de arbitrar, dirimir e julgar, o acto decisionário não evocará também uma certa arte de moldar, aplicar e adaptar, fazendo eco de uma racionalidade poiética cujas raízes mergulham, desde os alvores da épica homérica, nessa ainda tão pouco frequentada noção de métis [μήτις] signo de uma pensatividade tipificada não propriamente como razão prática, mas como razão em prática? Interessa-nos, pois, esclarecer a morfogénese crítica da decisão, atendendo ao modo como a crença religiosa iluminou o âmago da decisão heróica, no contexto da tragediografia grega, bem como à forma como Aristóteles procurou, pelo enlace da Ética e da Retórica, superar tanto as aporias do modelo trágico como as inerentes ao pensamento do seu mestre Platão, apresentando a escolha deliberada como modelo operativo de persuasão já não para caucionar a adesão a uma crença religiosa, nem tão-pouco suscitar a credulidade num ludíbrio político, mas apenas para induzir a credibilidade discursiva no próprio acto de decidir.
