Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The article discusses main trends in the U.S.–Canada direct investment flows. The author analyzes FDI dynamics before and after President Donald Trump arrived in the White House and investigates activities of American businesses in Canada and Canadian businesses in the U.S.A., including mergers and acquisitions. It is concluded that in 2017–2019 there were no significant changes neither in the main trends characterizing cooperation between the two countries in the investment sphere, nor in the directions of FDI exports from Canada to the U.S. Pipelines, power generation, utilities, finance, real estate and infrastructure remain the most attractive sectors for Canadian capital in the United States. As for American capital in Canada, it is expressing growing interest in the high-tech sector, while oil and gas and manufacturing industries get less of its attention.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
