Efeito da Equoterapia no equilíbrio postural em mulheres com Doença de Machado Joseph

Abstract
Introdução. A Doença de Machado Joseph (DMJ) é uma enfermidade neurodegenerativa que se manifesta através de progressivas disfunções cerebelares. As estratégias de intervenção visam melhorar a capacidade funcional. Objetivo. Investigar os efeitos da Equoterapia no equilíbrio postural de pacientes com DMJ. Método. Três mulheres (47,67±1,15 anos) com DMJ foram avaliadas e os dados estabilométricos foram adquiridos durante 15 segundos com frequência de 100 Hz. Foram realizadas vinte sessões de Equoterapia em um intervalo de dez semanas. Nesse período os sujeitos foram submetidos a avaliações periódicas, realizadas imediatamente antes e após as sessões 1, 5, 10, 15 e 20. Uma avaliação confirmatória foi realizada trinta dias após o término do período de intervenção. Resultados. O efeito imediato após o final de cada sessão, nos cinco diferentes dias, não identificou alterações nas oscilações corporais em nenhum dos sujeitos. Os três sujeitos apresentaram respostas distintas ao longo do tratamento. Conclusões. A intervenção com a Equoterapia não foi capaz de promover alterações consistentes no equilíbrio postural das mulheres portadoras de DMJ estudadas.
