Abstract
A água é, em seus diferentes contextos, a questão central deste artigo. Ele resulta de pesquisa baseada em análise de conteúdo. O objetivo é verificar o núcleo dos sentidos contidos nas representações de dois escritores e dois jornais, com textos publicados em diferentes épocas da história do município de Joinville, no estado de Santa Catarina. Foram analisadas duas obras do memorialista Schneider (1994; 1995) e do historiador Ficker (1965), assim como matérias dos jornais “Gazeta de Joinville” (dos últimos quatro anos) e “Jornal de Joinville” (dos últimos seis meses). A água é representada 132 vezes nos livros e 161 vezes nos jornais. Os resultados mostram que os temas sobre este recurso têm assumido um valor utilitarista/tecnológico, incluindo os modos de sua gestão, sendo poucos os valores atribuídos à importância vital da água para as diversas formas de vida do planeta. O presente artigo busca discutir a relevância e os problemas que envolvem a água em Joinville, analisando se persistem os valores e problemas atribuídos ao recurso ou se eles se diferenciam ao longo do tempo, fornecendo pistas para ações futuras.
