Le système de régulation institutionnelle de l’éthique de la recherche soulève de nombreuses difficultés, particulièrement pour les sciences sociales. Les principales critiques dont il a fait l’objet sont d’abord rappelées. L’analyse du système est ensuite poussée plus loin sur deux points d’importance : la vulnérabilité des participants aux recherches et la transformation de la science en savoir-expert. L’article se termine par quelques propositions sur les moyens pour permettre aux sociologues de se réapproprier l’éthique de la recherche.
