Moderating and mediating effect of cognitive function between negative emotion and quality of life in patients with atrial fibrillation

Abstract
Objective To explore the moderating effect and mediating effect of function between negative and quality of life in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) . Methods Totally 222 AF patients hospitalized in a Class Ⅲ Grade A hospital in Tianjin from December 2017 to May 2018 were selected by convenience sampling method. Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) , Beijing version of Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale (MoCA) , and Atrial Fibrillation Quality of Life Scale (AF-QoL-18) were used in the investigation. A total of 222 questionnaires were sent out and 200 valid ones were collected. Results The partial regression coefficient of the interaction item of cognitive function * negative emotion was -0.184, P<0.001, and the new explanatory amount after introducing the interaction item had statistical significance (ΔR2=0.026, P<0.001) . Cognitive function had a significant mediating effect between negative emotions and quality of life, and the benchmark model fitted well. The results of multi-group analysis showed that the benchmark model was invariant among different gender groups. Conclusions Cognitive function had regulating and partial mediating effects between negative and quality of life in patients with AF and there shows no difference between different genders.
