L’analyse spectrale du son enregistré permet l’étude précise de multiples paramètres vocaux interprétatifs, des effets de voix les plus infimes aux phénomènes combinatoires complexes que sont le timbre, le rythme ou le phrasé : ces données acoustiques dévoilent le détail de ce qui fait la globalité du son perçu. Mais les multiples données obtenues ne doivent pas rester des éléments disparates, hétérogènes et simplement juxtaposables. Elles nécessitent pour être lisibles une organisation en méta-perspectives sémiologiques et une intégration dans de véritables stratégies interprétatives qui les transcendent. Comment les organiser dans la perspective pluridisciplinaire indispensable à leur étude ? Comment passer de l’inventaire, du catalogue hétéroclite, de la parataxe à une cohérence et une structuration qui ne soient ni simplificatrices ni schématisantes et respectent la pluralité et la complexité de cet objet d’étude ? L’optique de la rhétorique vocale et de ses avatars récents en linguistique (la pragmatique, la linguistique interactionnelle, etc.) représente une piste fructueuse. C’est ce passage de l’étude des paramètres interprétatifs à partir de l’analyse spectrale à leur intégration dans une sémiologie surplombante que nous nous proposons d’aborder par le biais de l’approche rhétorique pour proposer une typologie des styles interprétatifs dans la chanson française.
