Abstract
TiivistelmäMTT Puutarhatuotannon tutkimuskohteet kattavat suomalaisen puutarha-alan tärkeimmät tuotantosuunnat.Vuosina 2003-2005 kehitettiin ympärivuotisen kasvihuonetuotannon mahdollistavia menetelmiä.Kasvuston alaosien valotusta hyödyntämällä pystyttiin lisäämään vihannesten tuotannon tehokkuutta.Lisäksi uudentyyppisellä kasvihuoneiden jäähdytysmenetelmällä voitiin lisätä satotasoja, ja useat uudet turvepohjaiset kasvualustat osoittautuivat mahdollisiksi viljelyssä.Avomaan vihannesten ja marjojen tutkimuksessa määritettiin parhaat lannoitus-ja kastelutasot.Vihannesten kuluttajalaadun kehittäminen toteutettiin yhdessä tuottaja-, kauppa-ja teollisuusosapuolten kanssa.MTT:n jalostusohjelmasta nimettiin uusi mansikkalajike, ja viljelykokeessa testattiin mansikan ajoitettuun sadontuotantoon parhaiten sopivia lajikkeita.Kasvien sisältä eristetyn bakteerikannan osoitettiin vaikuttavan mansikan sienitautikestävyyteen liittyviin puolustusmekanismeihin.Mykorritsasienistä kehitettiin kasvien kasvua parantava kaupallinen tuote, Myko-Ymppi.Myös omajuuristen omenapuulajikkeiden kaupallinen tuotanto aloitettiin.Laajat, monivuotiset puuvartisten viherrakentamisen kasvien testaus-ja valintatutkimukset saatiin päätökseen, ja uusia FinE®-rekisteröityjä lajikkeita nimettiin.Puuvartisten maanpeitekasvien testaus johti suosituksiin parhaista taimityypeistä ja lajikkeista.Laaja perennasukujen tutkimus julkisten viheralueiden tarpeisiin aloitettiin usealla paikkakunnalla.
