Abstract
espanolEste ensayo se .propone plorar la contribucion de la obra de Dorothy Livesay a la modernista canadiense desde una perspectiva abierta a lo social y materialista. Para el estudio de la representacion de la subjetividad femenina en textos autobiograficos y en la social de Livesay de los anos 30, hemos adoptado una nocion amplia de poesia lirica. Pretendemos situar la discusion en torno a la subjetividad femenina y la clase dentro del debate que existia en el seno del modernismo canadiense sobre la inclusion/exclusion de las poetas que escribian sobre si mismas y sobre las demas mujeres. La obra temprana de Livesay no exhibe el ideal de objetividad de los poetas masculinos como A.J.M. Smith, sino que sigue en una linea mucho mas cercana a la subjetividad de una poetica centrada en lo femenino que encuentra su inspiracion en la obra de autoras como Virginia Woolf, Katherine Mansfield, H.D., y Amy Lowell. EnglishThe aim of this paper is to explore the contribution of the work of Dorothy Livesay to Canadian modernist from a socially oriented and materialist perspective. Through an approach to the representacion of female subjectivity in Livesay's life writing and in her social from the 1930s, I have focused on an extended notion of lyric poetry so that my discussion of female subjectivity and class might productively engage a Canadian modernism that included female poets writing about themselves and their own gender. Livesay's carly work is focused not on the objeccivity idealized by post-Eliot male modernists such as A.f.M. Smich, but on the subjectivity of an emerging female-centred poetics found in the work of Virginia Woolf, Katherine Mansfield, H.D., and Amy Lowell.
