Abstract
본 연구는 유아들이 공학에 기반한 블록 쌓기 문제를 해결하는 과정을 탐구하였다. 연구 참여자는 I 시에 위치한 Y 유치원의 만 4세 유아 13명이며 관찰, 인터뷰, 비디오 촬영을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 자료 분석 결과, 첫째, 유아들은 반복적인 문제해결, 브레인스토밍과 의사결정, 설계 테스트 및 평가, 수학적, 과학적 개념의 적용과 같은 공학적 설계 과정을 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 유아들은 공학에 기반한 블록 쌓기 문제를 해결하는 과정에서 끈기, 협력, 의사소통과 같은 공학적 사고를 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 유아공학교육에 대한 방향을 제시하고, 이와 관련한 교육과정 개발에 기초적인 자료로 활용될 것으로 기대한다.
