Abstract

L'enjeu constitutionnel façonne significativement la configuration des partis politiques et des systèmes partisans tant au Québec qu'au Canada. Le Parti libéral du Québec (PLQ) ne fait pas exception dans la longue durée de l'histoire des systèmes partisans québécois. Ce mémoire s'intéresse aux prises de position du PLQ sur l'avenir constitutionnel du Québec et sur la réforme du fédéralisme canadien. Cette recherche propose d'examiner en détail le contenu des positions constitutionnelles du PLQ durant la période s'entendant de 1960 à 2018, et de tracer sa trajectoire diachronique afin d'en déceler les éléments de continuité et de changement entre celles-ci. Par l'entremise d'une analyse thématique, nous présentons une étude raisonnée, critique, et méticuleuse des documents partisans, des énoncés gouvernementaux, de même que des programmes électoraux pertinents et des brochures référendaires de 1979 et 1995 permettant de faire la lumière sur l'histoire constitutionnelle du PLQ. En empruntant une démarche ancrée dans l'histoire politique, notre analyse des textes accorde également une attention particulière aux contextes sociohistoriques que nous identifions comme étant les trois moments saillants du PLQ et la question constitutionnelle : le moment de l'autonomie (1960-1978), le moment de la souveraineté (1979-1993), et le moment de l'habilitation (1994-2018). \n_____________________________________________________________________________ \nMOTS-CLÉS DE L’AUTEUR : Parti libéral du Québec, partis politiques, systèmes partisans, histoire constitutionnelle, analyse thématique
