Abstract
Objetivo: identificar as percepções de pessoas em sofrimento psíquico acerca da vivência da doença e do restabelecimento da trajetória de vida. Método: estudo descritivo, exploratório, com abordagem qualitativa, realizado com nove usuários cadastrados numa equipe de Saúde da Família. Utilizou-se uma entrevista semiestruturada como instrumento de coleta de dados. Os depoimentos foram gravados, transcritos na íntegra, categorizados e discutidos por meio de Análise de Conteúdo. Resultados: o processo de aceitação do sofrimento psíquico é um componente central da recuperação e encontra-se intimamente relacionada ao funcionamento, ao manejo da doença e í qualidade de vida.Também foi evidenciados mecanismos de empoderamento e enfrentamento para restabelecimento da vida cotidiana como a busca por apoio religioso, apoio familiar e as atividades de apoio comunitário com ações de suporte.Conclusão: ser portador de sofrimento psíquico é vivenciar um sofrimento diário, tendo assim várias limitações para realizar suas atividades cotidianas.
